Weekday schedule of a Tongan office worker

6:00-7:00 After waking up, have breakfast with your family. Eat traditional foods such as taro, fish, and coconut.
7:00-8:00 Travel to work by foot or car. This is the time when traffic is heavy in the capital, Nuku'alofa.
8:00-12:00 Morning work. There are many people working in government agencies and the tourism industry, so the atmosphere is relatively relaxed.
12:00-13:30 Lunch break. Many people have lunch at home or at a nearby restaurant and take a nap.
13:30-16:30 Afternoon work. The work pace is slow due to the high temperatures, and important work is done in the morning.
16:30-17:30 After work, swim at the beach or relax with friends over kava (a traditional drink).
17:30-19:30 Have dinner with family and discuss the day's events. Traditional dishes such as roux and otá are often served.
19:30-21:30 Attend church activities or community meetings. Spend the time watching TV and talking with neighbors.
